Christmas Party Para Sa Superkids 2025: 1,200 Children Celebrate the Joy of Christmas

On the morning of December 20, the familiar covered court in Area 8, Cainta came alive once more — not with basketball cheers, but with the laughter and wonder of 1,200 children gathering for one of the longest-running Christmas outreach events in the community.

This year marked another chapter in what has become a beloved tradition since 1999: the annual Christmas Party Para Sa Superkids. For over two decades, New Hope to Asia has returned to the same basketball court, the same neighborhood, and many of the same families — a testament to faithful, consistent ministry that has grown alongside the community it serves.

By the time the program began, the court was packed from wall to wall. Children wore numbered tags around their necks — some as high as 868, others in the thousands — each number a promise that every child would go home with a gift. Volunteers had spent the previous days sorting toys, snacks, and supplies into loot bags, ensuring every child would be seen.

Preparation With Purpose

Behind every joyful moment on event day lies hours of quiet, hands-on preparation. In the days leading up to the party, a dedicated team of volunteers gathered to sort through boxes of toys, school supplies, and snacks — carefully assembling each “Big Bag of Hope,” a blue tote filled with items and stamped with the promise from Luke 1:53: “Jesus fills me with good things.”

From colorful art sets and toy cars to crackers and bread, each bag was thoughtfully packed. The work was done by young people and families alike — some wearing shirts that read “Philippians 3:14 — Press On” — a quiet reminder that even in the logistics of sorting and packing, the team understood this was ministry at its most tangible.

The Christmas Story, Reimagined

The heart of the program was a creative retelling of the Christmas story — performed live on stage with a uniquely Filipino twist. This year, the story was told through the lens of four sanggres on a quest for power, facing off against the villainous Madam Damin. The costumed performers brought energy, drama, and humor to the stage, drawing the children into a narrative that ended with a powerful message: that true power is found in Jesus alone.

The skit featured a nativity scene complete with shepherds and angels (left) and colorful costumed characters the kids adored (right).

An angel in white stood elevated on the makeshift stage, declaring the good news to shepherds kneeling below with stuffed sheep in hand. Behind the stage, the three kings waited for their entrance, draped in capes of yellow, red, and purple. And in the crowd, over a thousand pairs of young eyes were locked on the performance — some in awe, some giggling, all of them fully present in the moment.

How we shared the Christmas story this year

Every Smile, A Reflection of God’s Goodness

When the program ended, the real joy of Christmas became tangible. One by one, children filed forward to receive their Big Bag of Hope — each one brimming with toys, snacks, and a packed lunch. The smile on each child’s face as they held up their blue bags was the kind of moment that stays with you: pure, unguarded delight.

For many of these children, this Christmas party may be the only celebration they experience during the season. The numbered tags — running well into the 1,000s — are a reminder of just how many kids in the community look forward to this event each year. And the volunteers who returned, year after year, know that this is about more than gifts. It is about being known. Being seen. Being told that they matter.

The sheer scale of the event — over 1,200 children packed the court, many accompanied by parents and older siblings.

26 Years of Faithfulness

What started in 1999 has now spanned over a quarter of a century. Some of the children who attended the very first Superkids Christmas Party are now adults — and some have returned as volunteers themselves. The Area 8 basketball court has been the constant — a familiar, open-air space that becomes sacred ground every December when the community gathers once more.

This year’s party would not have been possible without the generous hearts of donors, the tireless hands of volunteers, and the faithful prayers of supporters near and far. Every toy sorted, every bag packed, every scene rehearsed — it all came together to create an experience that these 1,200 children will carry with them.
